Kim Sabate

Founder
TRANSetter (Scotland)

Kim Sabate, who goes by she/her pronouns, is a proud transgender woman from the Philippines. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She is an Associate Member of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development after completing the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.

She began her transition journey in the Philippines in 2012 while simultaneously starting her professional career. She arrived in the UK in 2017. Two years later, in 2019, she joined one of the biggest Global Oil & Gas Service Companies based in Aberdeen, Scotland. She started as a Data & Insights Analyst and worked her way up to become an Employee Relations HR Partner. Most recently, she was the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs Manager, leading culture and DEI initiatives globally.

Kim has gained confidence and support since joining the energy sector, enabling her to share her journey. She leads by example, championing initiatives that promote not only the LGBTQIA+ community but also diversity, equity, and inclusion. One of her noteworthy initiatives is the Gender Transition Toolkit, which has successfully assisted managers and leaders in supporting and comprehending employees undergoing gender transition. This toolkit is the first of its kind in the energy industry.

Kim has developed a program called LGBTQ+ STEM for her organisation to acknowledge the valuable contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Kim has also developed protocols for pronoun usage and explained why they are essential. Routine inclusion of pronouns in email signatures is a big step forward for an industry that values diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as critical elements in its culture, along with health and safety.

She has also been supporting the annual Grampian Pride Parade in Aberdeen.

In 2022, Kim was honoured as the Energy Industry Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK). In 2023, she was a finalist for the Trans Corporate Champion award by Trans in the City. She was also featured in an article by the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.

Kim has recently launched her own Image Consultancy Business (TRANSetter), dedicated to helping other trans women discover their authentic selves and unlock their full potential. As a transformational coach, Kim draws on her personal experiences to create a safe and non-judgmental space for every trans woman to explore and work towards their goals related to their gender identity.

Kim is passionate about helping trans women achieve their dreams and reach their full potential, and she is committed to building a supportive and inclusive community for all.
